When should a tree be removed?
There are several circumstances that may require a tree to be removed. This can include:
-
Dead wood
If you're noticing that large amounts of bark are peeling off your tree, it could be an indicator that either part or all of the tree has died. When more than fifty percent of a tree has died, it may need to be removed. -
Dead branches
When branches have died, they should be removed by a tree removal specialist. Whether still attached to the tree or being held up by other branches, it's important to remove them as they may pose a hazard if left on the tree. -
Sewer, septic or foundation issues
Sometimes root systems can cause damage to a building's foundation, sewer lines, or septic system. If this occurs you may need to remove the tree in order to prevent a recurring issue. -
Pest infestation
Trees that have become infested with pests may need to be removed from your garden. Pests such as termites, borers, or a pathogen called brown root rot can all do damage to trees. Removing the problem tree may allow you to contain the infestation and limit the spread.
